Meditations by Marcus Aurelius (Notes)

Meditations by Marcus Aurelius (Notes)

Habitual Thoughts ---> Character of mind ; Soul dyed by thoughts (p. 32-33)

Good fortune --> Good disposition of SOUL, EMOTIONS and ACTIONS (P. 36)

The best way of avenging yourself is not to become like the wrongdoer (p. 37)

If they can, you can too. - (p. 40)

For nothing should be done without a purpose. ((p. 59)

In the next place remember that neither the future nor the past pains you, but only the present. (p. 62)

Consider that everything is opinion, and opinion is in your power. (p. 96)

Lessons I understood from the book:

  • Act according to one's own nature and natural discourse.
  • If you find error in another man's doing, show him why you think it is and how to rectify his mistake, if not, then there is nothing wrong on what he has done.
