What to do: Hair Donation

What to do: Hair Donation

Are you having good days recently? I surely did these past few days.

When I was on my way home, I happened to came across a relative of a patient. I thought she was familiar, and I learned that she also felt the same way I did and then we exchanged hellos. I found out that she is now working in Cebu and she had just taken a vacation here. She said that she was happy that she saw me, and let me tell you that the feeling is mutual. I don't know why but there's something energizing about it. It is heart warming When people do simple things that may not mean a lot to them but may mean a lot to you. These are the simple things like  to they acknowledge and appreciate you. Sometimes, those that provide care are the ones that needed care the most.

Not only I am having a good day because I did celebrated my birthday a day ago, I was able to cut my 2 years worth of tresses for a good cause.

Maybe not all of you are aware that aside from donating money, goods, organs and blood, there are programs out there in which you can donate your hair. These programs are there to promote and give hope to cancer patients. They would be making them as wigs.

Why not make synthetic hairs, you might ask. Aside that they are unnatural and may cause irritation, I did found out that human hair tend to last longer (maybe about 5 years).

Prior to the donation, to tell you the truth, I was very nervous because I had dry wavy-curly hair. And we all know that wavy-curly hair are prone to frizziness and dryness. So in preparation to these about 1-2 weeks before, I used deep conditioning treatments which contains keratin. I used Pantene 3 minute miracle and Creamsilk Keratin Conditioner alternately. I discovered recently that Creamsilk's Keratin conditioner was the bomb. It made my hair super soft and less frizzy and my most favorite part was the scent.

The hairdresser divided my hair into sections and put a band on it. She cut my hair and then styled it afterwards.
This is the shortest hair I had and I'm a bit uncomfortable but surprisingly, I got huge amount of compliments.

If you are considering donating your hair, check out the requirements of the program you are donating. Mine was to have a hair of at least 9 inches. Hair should be clean and dry. No applied styling products or masks.

Wake me up When September Ends

Wake me up When September Ends

I'm feeling a little down lately because regardless of my efforts, it seems to me that there is an unending cycle to problems. It keeps piling up and up. Life is hard. How do you cope up with life? I managed to cope up somehow in which I'm thankful for the books, music and the internet. It makes my life more bearable. I can vent out my feelings here without the guilt. Friends, you say? I don't think I have recently because I'm disappointed in people. What I realized being a long time listener is that no one really wants to listen to your problems when you need it the most. At the end, it is utterly exhausting and depressing. As I give myself to people, I didn't realize that I was neglecting the most important person in my life which is myself.

You see, I abhor being selfish. I felt guilty when I think about myself. So I held back a lot. As time passed and the lessons strucked hard, it dawned on me that being selfish for the sake of your sanity is not a sin. It is okay to think first for yourself. Because no one is the best advocate for you than you.

I need to wake up since it's the end of September.

A Jolly and Sad Moment

A Jolly and Sad Moment

September is the start of the -`BER months and Christmas songs can be heard in almost every malls. Hello again Jose Mari Chan!

I am saddened by the fact that one of the forums I usually go to had officially retired. Thanks for the learnings. :-(

And oh by the way, I already know the answer to my previous question. The title of the Korean show is THE BODY SHOW where one of the host is Choi Yeo-Jin. :-)

A Korean show about Four types of belly fat

I still remember that I've watched in a YouTube Channel years ago about four types of belly fat. It's a Korean lifestyle show about fitness. However, I can't find it anymore. Do you know where I can watch it again?

Meteor Garden is Here Again!

Well, what can I say? No one can compare to the original as they have brought the METEOR GARDEN fever but hey, the current cast in the 2018 series are more good-looking and more charming. Dylan Wang is just as adorable. Plus, the "Pineapple" hair style of Dylan is more tolerable to see than Jerry Yan's hairstyle as Dao Ming Si.

If you're curious, you can watch the series in Netflix.

Heathers: MUSICAL

Heathers: MUSICAL

It was once my dream to perform in a theater because performing on stage gives me the excitement and thrills. The last musical that I'd watched before was Habi-tabi. I remembered that because of my sister who had a crush on the theater actor whose role was Habi-tabi (And I still tease her about this even today. Hehe!)

I have huge respect for theater actors and actresses especially those who had been doing theater performances for a very long time. They certainly have this in depth of emotions and spectacular acting skills. Performing on stage is not an easy task and is definitely not one of the crafts to easily master. You have to possess a large voice that can be heard in the last chair of the venue without shouting. On top of that, it requires synchronizing of singing, dancing and acting at the same time.

I happened to watch Beautiful - Heathers Animatic by ELEMENTAL FA on YouTube because of the animation drawing which reminds me of WITCH, a teenage comic book, because they almost have the same style. I enjoyed the short clip and hope you can too:

ABBA's Dancing Queen

ABBA's Dancing Queen

If you are born before Generation Y, you might be quite familiar with songs like The Winner Takes it All, Chiquitita, Mamma Mia and one of the most popular is the Dancing Queen that was sung by the pop group ABBA.

To be honest, I didn't know that they were a Swedish pop group until I've read it in "The Swedish Prince" by Karina Halle. What's more is that upon research, I've learned a fun fact that they have performed Dancing Queen first in the pre-wedding gala of King Carl XVI Gustav and Queen Silvia of Sweden in 1976! I wasn't even born at that time yet. But thank God for YouTube I got to watch their performance.
(:-D)

Happy Independence Day? K-folk songs on the WAVE!

Happy Independence Day!

Happy Independence Day Yo Folks! In celebrating the Philippines' Independence, does this mean that I should also talk about the Philippines?

Nah. I'll talk about something else today.

The hot scorching summer is out and we're here again experiencing rainy seasons. Rainy days are good when you are inside your home. I personally do not like rainy days especially when I'm about to go to work or go to somewhere else. The roads are muddy and rain with strong winds proved to be hassle for me. But I have no complaints if I'm at home because it makes my bed more appealing to sleep on. I can snooze on and take longer hours of sleep which I did.

Perfect for this kind of weather is reading a book while sipping a cup of coffee while listening to another Korean wave addiction which is Korean folk songs.

I'll let you hear some on which I'm currently listening to:

Life is fleeting.

Life is fleeting. Snap in an instant. Poof and it's gone. :-(

I just heard last week that a patient that usually visits us had passed away and I found it through an article shown to me by a co-worker. She's way too young to die.

But I guess, death do not choose whether what or who you are. It makes me realize that in this life, we must make the most of it because the truth is that it is short-lived.

Nobody knows were we might end up. Nobody knows.

For BPI Direct clients: Shifting magnetic stripe to EMV card

For BPI Direct clients: Shifting magnetic stripe to EMV card

For us millenials, we have witnessed how the world was changed by technology. It made our life easier, faster and more efficient. Gone are the days that people prefer to put their money in the piggy banks. Instead they put it in the banks so that it could earn an interest.

With times getting tough especially for a country labeled as a third-world, security is a very much topic of concern when it comes to anyone. It is and will always be a first priority, be it with regards to physical safety of oneself or for that hard-earned cash.

When news broke about rampant cases of fraud and theft, I was worried. Call it being paranoid but who can't help it? Magnetic stripe cards can be cloned into another card which can be used so that criminals can withdraw your money directly from the ATM and take your money.

Way back in 2016-2017, I first learned in an article by CNN that all over the Philippines, banks are mandated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to shift their magnetic stripe cards into a EMV card. An EMV card has more security and makes it hard for criminals to copy your information. And so I emailed mine as I was eager to replace mine. They replied that they would informed me as to where and how to claim the new card.

Fast forward May 2018, I was browsing the bank's website when I found that they have EMV updates and I have yet to receive an email. I browse on their site on how to claim the EMV card, but the problem was: I am BPI Direct client. I later found out upon further research that BPI Direct has no branch. So what could I do?

I read again the reply to my email and might have overlooked the advice to update my mobile number. The only way to change it is through visiting any branch of the bank you're with. And so I did and found out that I haven't updated my mobile phone number for more than a decade which I found weird because I remember complying 2 years ago when they have an announcement that their clients must update their information. So what was that then?

Anyhow, after updating mine at a branch I took the liberty to asked the officer about my dilemma. He said that they first prioritize the BPI clients and then next will be the BPI Family Savings and the BPI Direct clients. Hopefully, they will send me an e-mail as I know that the BSP had set a deadline for the banks to comply till end of June 2018.

FRESH TOUCH SPA

FRESH TOUCH SPA

Because it's Mothers day yesterday and my mom is missing in action since she's still on vacation, my siblings and I decided to have a full body massage at Fresh Touch Spa. For as low as 275 php, you can avail their signature body massage for 60 minutes. Fresh Touch Spa is located at 8271 Dr. Arcadio Santos Avenue in Sucat, Paranaque City near Universal College but they also have another branch which is on the 2nd floor #167 Re. Aglipay Street in Mandaluyong City. It's a good thing that they would be opening the Marikina branch soon.

If you will go to their Paranaque branch, I would strongly advise that you call their telephone number beforehand at 511-0002 and book by appointment as they are almost always packed. You are one lucky guy/girl if ever you can book on the spot! Their telephone number for their Mandaluyong branch is 935-1011.

Crane Personal Cool Mist 2-in-1 Humidifier and Aroma Diffuser

Crane Personal Cool Mist 2-in-1 Humidifier and Aroma Diffuser

I've been contemplating in buying a humidifier for a while since I learned somewhere that humidifiers can be good. From the term itself, humidifiers are things that humidify or increase the moisture in the air. Two of the things that I like about this is that using humidifiers in the room can be beneficial for the skin and for unclogging sinuses. By the way, I have dry skin and I sometimes suffer from stuffy nose which makes it perfect especially when I'm sleeping. An added bonus point is that it is also an aroma diffuser.

After some time, I finally decided to purchase the Crane Personal Cool Mist 2-in-1 Humidifier and Aroma Diffuser online. It is sold by KeyWest Internationale, the exclusive distributor of Crane products in the Philippines, through Lazada at 2299.75 php. I purchased on a Saturday night and got it the next Wednesday which made it 4 days on a cash on delivery. The bubble-wrapped packaged comes with the humidifier, cord, manual and the receipt and 6 months warranty/

The manual indicates that this humidifier should have a daily and weekly maintenance which can be a little bit taxing. However, doing this will not only make the item last longer but it can prevent bacteria and fungi to multiply inside the humidifier.

The Infographics Show

The Infographics Show

In this high technology society we are living now, both the older and the younger generation would usually spend a lot of their time with mobile phones or computers.  The young ones are either playing games offline or online, keeping themselves updated through social media sites, browsing the internet or are simply watching videos in the cyberspace.

I'm quite sure you are familiar with Youtube. I also spend some time in this website too. Being a sucker for anything informative, I came across The Infographics Show channel through YouTube recommendations. Since then, I became hooked.

This is a YouTube channel that I highly recommend that you subscribe to because it makes information more digestible to understand and they are using visually appealing animations. It makes facts more fun to learn.

Trying out Sun Soya's Matcha Latte Milk Tea!

Hey-yo Everyone!

This is my first post for the month of February and I'm just amazed how times had gone by!

As much as I loved drinking Nestea's wintermelon milk tea which costs around 93 pesos/box, I decided to try another brand hoping my fingers crossed that it would turn out good. During my brief grocery shopping at Landmark, I picked out Sun Soya's matcha latte milk tea which was priced at 119 pesos per box for 10 pieces.

If you're not into very sweet drinks and more on the creamy taste, you should try this. From my experience, Matcha usually has this bitter after taste. This have none.

The Day the Thyme Died.

Okay guys. I'm not here to give you bad news on my second post this 2018. But just so you might like to know about what happened to the herb I was keen on propagating, this was not today that the thyme I sown last November died. The thyme did germinate (which made me excited and happy) for about a month. It had grown into about 3-4 inches (about the length of 2 thumbs) until it succumbed into a wilted plant. Because of this failed attempt, I learned that they do not like cold, moist temperature and more prefer warm climates and exposure to the sun. I do not water them everyday as I've researched that they are prone to root rotting if the roots are exposed to very moist environment. I do not know if a certain someone would though, despite knowing that I informed him not to water my plants. It is just unfortunate that last December air was chilly.

Anyway, I observed that they had very thin stems as to what I see in the internet. Maybe the soil is the culprit?

So there.

Happy New 2018 Year!

Hi ho amigo/amiga! A new year has already begun and I'm looking forward to this year.

Though this may be a little bit delayed, but I wish you all a happy new year. Cheers to this coming 2018! :)

Happy Holidays!

Almost a month before I had another post to publish.

Not I do not have anything to write.

It's just that I'm lazy powering up the laptop and logging in.

Anyway, another year will be passing again soon and we'll be welcoming again another new year.

But for now, have a Merry Christmas, everyone!

Korean drama: Age of Youth

Korean drama: Age of Youth

And so.... here we go again with my korean drama obsession. So please bear with me. *Hahaha.*

If you're on the twenteens side like I do, I'm sure that in a way you can relate to this series. The characters are so funny and lovable that it will make you giggle and laugh out loud. Some scenes were cute and adorable to watch while some ended with tears. Oh well, a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

Overall, I could say that it was a korean series worth watching. It's light and interesting. And its OST is good. For real.

Making Homemade Gyoza

Making Homemade Gyoza

Who wants to have gyoza? I had my first bite of gyoza from Yamazaki and it was very good. And then I had another one from Yoshinoya from another time and another one again from Gyoza Bar.

Eating gyoza makes you want to eat more of them. However, I find it very expensive so I decided to make a homemade Gyoza.

I watched some videos from Youtube and tried a recipe from TabiEats.

The finished product was definitely a success as evidenced by my sister almost gobbling up more than she could eat.

Oh, the recipe says gyoza wrapper but in case you can't find one in the supermarket like I did, I took a risk on the dumpling wrappers only to find out in the end that it's the same with gyoza wrappers.
(-.-')

Till next time! :-D

Another try with Herbs

Another try with Herbs

Hi guys! The long vacation is almost over and I will be back at work shortly so now I'm savoring this moment of freedom. And oh by the way, I'm trying again in growing herbs. You might not know this but it is part of my dream to have a herb garden. Herbs are used in cooking and are supposed to be used in food for a more flavorful taste. Aside from that, herbs also provide additional nutritional value to our daily diet. However, as much as I would like to promote in including herbs in our daily consumption, please take precaution if you are currently in medications as some of these may either synergize (potentiate/increase) or antagonize (decrease) the effect of the medicines. It is best if your doctor knows these things. Overall, herbs provides us another way of seasoning our food without the excessive use of salt and MSG.

I had been successful before in growing basil leaves and marigold from the brand Yates. It was very much satisfying to see when you see something you've sown grow into a plant. Basil was very aromatic especially when you roll the leaves at the palm of your hands.

You might've read about my early post that I've had regarding herb gardening. I was able to buy three plants from Baclaran: Gotu Kola, Peppermint and Thyme. The peppermint and the thyme sadly died so in my attempt to save the Gotu Kola, I transferred it to the side part of our house which has more soil and it has more space to grow. It had propagated alright and sprouted like no other but my father decided himself to weed out Gotu Kola. I was angry but upon discovering it one day. But what can I do, turn Super Saiyan like Goku in Dragon Ball?

I also sown marigold but unfortunately it hadn't germinated like the first time that I've tried. Maybe it was the pot? I don't know. I was using Yates the second time and bleeeh.

And here I am today, trying out again growing herbs. This time around I used the brand RAMGO and I did sown all the thyme seeds in the pack 3-4 days ago. I checked the soil today if my father had watered it down without me knowing. Fortunately, he didn't. I did a little research on growing thyme and I found out that thyme do not really need a lot of water. I'm not really expecting anything in the early stages (maybe taking pictures is a jinx? you think?) but I'm glad that I see very tiny leaves after exposing the soil to the sun 2 days ago.

First Time Online Shopping at Lazada!

First Time Online Shopping at Lazada!

Hello there! To start with, the title says it all. It's my first time purchasing a product from Lazada. I'm already familiar with the website. In fact, I was window shopping and found the prices cheaper than the physical store but I was adamant in purchasing from Lazada before as I've heard a lot of negative reviews not only from bloggers but from vloggers.

It might made you think what changed my mind? I've been holding back for some time in purchasing an external hard drive and I was really running low on memory so I really needed an external hard drive now. It was a 1 terabyte external hard drive with free pouch and 3 years warranty (Sweet!). It was a risk I took but so far I think it eventually paid off.

As you might heard or not, they recently had an online revolution sale for up to 95 percent off from November 9-11, 2017.

I placed an order on November 10, 2017 with Cash on Delivery as my payment method and then today November 12, 2017 at around 12:30 noon I got my packaged. The item inside is bubble wrapped. It was a very fast delivery.

Update: I think they have another Online Revolution Sale again by December 12, 2017.

Hulu Series: The Handmaid's Tale

Hulu Series: The Handmaid's Tale

Let's take a break from anything Korean. I'm currently watching a series from Hulu which tackles about scarcity for babies. The Handmaid's Tale is a dystopian novel by Margaret Atwood and was made into series. The first season was at 10 episodes and I'm watching now the fourth episode. It was fortunate that they had decided to do a second season but I think it will be shown in 2018.

I first found out about this on facebook, along with the movie Children of Men. I find this series interesting but this is kind of creepy. Below is their official trailer:

Korean drama Special Special

Korean drama Special Special

While I do not binge watch Korean dramas like I used to before, recently I watched a Korean drama Special from KBS which I found on Youtube. I liked it so I'm watching again another on YouTube. Korean drama special has one episode.

Let's Meet, Joo Oh

Soo-Ji (Jo Bo-Ah) wants to marry the best modern boy in Kyungsung (old name for Seoul). To do so, Soo-Ji goes to a matchmaking company. Joo-Oh (Son Ho-Jun) is an employee at the matchmaking company. He tries to help her find her match.

Yeah, I want to watch another episode with these drama specials. :(

Web Gaming, Anyone?

Web Gaming, Anyone?

Who else have grown up with computers? I have grown up almost addicted to computers fishing mainly for information on the world wide web but luckily I did not went to the extreme.

I play games but mostly on the web. Some of these website were introduced by my cousins. One of which is Neopets, if you are familiar with it, a simulation which can be quite similar to Pocket Monsters but were text-based and with cute pictures. Sadly, playing in Neopets is not available anymore.

And then, I learned about Mini-clip in which I learned that I prefer to play simulation and strategic games.

Who of you knows Utopia? This is a text-based website where you are a ruler for your kingdom and you allot the resources, build and conquer other regions which are owned by another user. This is this available on the web if your interested.

K-indie: J-rabbit

K-indie: J-rabbit

Since I've been listening to Korean drama OSTs way back high school, I happen to discover another gem of musicians which I hope the Koreans are proud to have. Not that I don't appreciate my own, I do. I just happen to admire how can they make their own music with a variety of musical instruments though honestly I don't understand a thing they sing (well, except for the English songs of course). Their voices are so soothing to hear and very much pleasing to the ears.

So without further ado, I would like to introduce J-rabbit!

I heard first their song "Greetings" and "If You Love Me" in the Operation Proposal OST (a remake of the Japanese drama entitled Proposal Daisakusen). The drama made me cried heaps and made me shed buckets of tears. I recommend that you watch it too.

Here is a sample of their music:

Greetings

If You Love Me

How about a live performance?

They will always be one of my favorite musicians. Kudos to this duo! And please keep making music that are inspiring.

Introducing K-indie!

Introducing K-indie!

You may probably tag me as a Korean culture addict though I'm not a Korean in origin. Let me tell you that there is so many things that I admire about the Koreans and their culture. Maybe later I'll probably take Hangeul lessons too. You think?

At some point in time, I was into doing marathons watching Korean dramas. But of course, they have these light and fun audio in the background if you're watching a light and funny drama and a sad and depressing song playing for a tragedic story drama. What made me hooked into Korean drama OSTs was the song playing in the drama sang by Dalmoon  which was Rooftop Moonlight (after some contemplating, I finally found it!). After School's Jung Ah entitled You're Cute was enjoyable to listen too. Actually, it was almost the entire OST which made me hooked! And as I began listening to more OST of different dramas, I began to appreciate lots and even discovered K-indie. So you will probably end up reading posts on more K-indie.

Check out below:

It feels like I'm hanging by the thread.

First Time Online shopping at Althea: Second Part

First Time Online shopping at Althea: Second Part

And so here comes the second part. To give you a little brief summary on the first part, I ordered an item at Althea on the 9th of September. I've been waiting and expecting that the item will be delivered at around the 24th of September or probably 29th as I've read in other blogs that Saturdays and Sundays are not included in the counting (which kind of made me sad a little).

Anyway, imagine my surprise when my sister texted me that a delivery man was at our house just this morning. After I got home, my father told me that indeed there was a delivery and the delivery man will be back again later. I was baffled when my father told me that I am going to pay for 1520 pesos instead of 1320 pesos (discounted price).

There was a misunderstanding as the system was 1520 pesos and the parcel says 1320 pesos. To end the story, I was able to get my parcel on this day. So from the day that I ordered 9th September 2017 to 16 September 2017, it took 7 days which for me is fast enough! By the way, the courier utilized by Althea here in the Philippines was Ninja Van.
