Catheterization
I attended today a catheter training and the take-aways that I learned were as follows:
- When there are clots when inserting a catheter, remove and insert a new one.
- For the encrustations, encourage patient consume food and drink which contains vitamin C. Encrustations are calcium deposits which are small sharps. Encourage to avoid milk, calcium containing, medications.
- It is better to insert a new catheter to a patient when it is blocked. You might dislodged a big calcium deposit in the bladder and this might cause trauma.
