A Marinade using Doenjang

A Marinade using Doenjang

Doenjang is usually used by Koreans for their stews. And because I don't want anything to go to waste, I thought of making a marinade using doenjang instead of gochujang. The pork with this marinade turned out savory and surprisingly it paired good with tuna fettucine.

Here is my recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Doenjang approximately 3-4 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 2-3 caplets
  • Sugar - 3-4 tablespoons
  • White onion, minced 1/16
  • Freshly crushed black pepper

Instructions:
  1. Mix all the above ingredients and adjust according to taste. Marinade to meat for at least an hour.

Enjoy!

I dropped my phone

I dropped my phone

Way to almost end the year folks. Perhaps this is one way of the universe telling me to purchase a new phone after X years? And so my sister and I went to Cyberzone in SM today. Unfortunately, the mobile phone that I've been eyeing for a couple of months is out of stock. The saleswoman in another store said that the phone that I liked was already phased out. Ooh--kay. How are you going to believe that when that phone is just launched this first quarter of 2021? Marketing tactics. The brand has a newly launched phone series and I'm suspecting that it's because of that. Anyway, my sister thought that I'll have another phone in mind. But I don't. It's either that or don't. Charrr. My plan B is to replace the LCD of my current phone and that's what we did. I asked around and the repair shop kiosk charge for 2000 pesos for the repair of LCD screen which was okay for me considering that the LCD screen replacement of the Lenovo phone that I still have today was charged for 2500 pesos. I did a down payment of 1000 pesos and then I'll go back to the shop tomorrow for the replacement.

Taking care of your eyeglasses

Taking care of your eyeglasses

If you ever have difficulties in seeing things clearly not unless you move closer and farther from it, chances are you might be myopic or hyperopic. To put it simply, you might be near-sighted or far-sighted. I've been myopic for a couple of decades which I've started wearing since the beginning of high school. I've tried using contact lenses and the sight experience is improved drastically. However, contact lenses should be use with caution and is not recommended for the lazy person.

Eyeglasses provide comfort in wearing as it doesn't dries the eye as contact lenses do. You can put it back on and off which is also a bit of disadvantage here because when you have to put it on, you have to have a go-to receptacle. What are some tips from my experience that I learned in taking care of your eyeglasses?

  1. Use only the cleaner specified for eyeglasses. The lady assistant in an optical shop once tipped us off that in caring for our eyeglasses, we shouldn't use alcohol or soap. I don't use cleaner solutions before as I perceived them to be expensive for me but now I know better. Eyeglasses lens are way more expensive.
  2. Do buy an eye lens cleaner. It may be a bit costly for some but it pays a lot to buy as it cleans dirt and dust on your eye glasses lens fast. I bought mine at Quiapo for 100 pesos for a 60 mL solution.
  3. Buy a microfiber cleaning cloth. This is one thing that is the most important when you clean your eyeglasses as this is the type of cloth that you should use only for your eyeglasses to prevent scratches on the lens. Usually, they came for free when you buy the eye lens cleaner.
  4. Put your eyeglasses in your go-to receptacle or place that you usually place your eyeglasses that is safe. One day, I got super tired and placed my glasses beside me in the bed out of laziness. The next morning I found out that I broke my eyeglasses as I might've laid on it. Please do not repeat my mistake. I don't have somebody but myself to blame for it.
  5. Avoid folding your eyeglasses as much as you can. My Aunt advised this and it works. When we always fold our eyeglasses when it is time to go to sleep, the hinges in the eyeglasses loosens and eventually we are left with an eyeglasses that comes off easily when stooping down.

Trying out my luck with another credit card application

Trying out my luck with another credit card application

That's right! I'm trying out my luck again with another credit card application. This time I'm applying for a BPI Blue Mastercard online. My credit card application was declined by Citibank which was a bummer. I hope I'll get my first ever credit card here since I also have a savings account with them. Crossing my fingers on this one.

On Manga and Webtoons

On Manga and Webtoons

Even when I was hooked to Korean dramas, I was also reading mangas online. This year, I've been having my manga fix through the Webtoons application in my Android phone. I am currently subscribed to this series:

  • True Beauty - which was adapted by television by the way
  • Sixth Sense Kiss
  • Your Smile is a Trap
  • My Younger Brother's Friend

I've done a little bit of backtracking and what I like to subscribed to before was Skip Beat!.  I've discovered this manga through a classmate in college and became curious about the story.

Anyway, what are your manga recommendations?

You've come a long way

You've come a long way

Sanegeal Farmhear

You've come a long way, dear self

A lot of time has passed and I know you seem to think that your life is blurry and bleak

While it's painful to see others rather ascend quickly when you're nowhere near when you did everything but still struggled

Keep going and persevere, your own time will come.

Wherever it will be, if you try and failed

At least you tried your best with no regrets

You contemplate and realize that thinking for yourself feels like a privilege rather than a necessity

When life hits you harder and it's easier to just let it all go,

Hold on to that dear precious life, think that every day is a blessing as someone is fighting for their own.

It's okay to wallow in negative emotions from time to time

Course through the ugly but never let it consume you.

These are the things you experience temporarily then let go of.

How Long Will it Take for CIMB bank to transfer to BPI?

How Long Will it Take for CIMB bank to transfer to BPI ?

There had been changes in the processing time of the banks due to the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I decided to try out how long will it take CIMB to transfer my funds from my Gsave account.

I started to apply and had my reference number at 4:56 am. I was expecting it to be credited at 11 am. Turns out, it did not. I waited almost every hour but to no avail. After I went home, by 7 pm I checked my account and there it is. So to cut the story short and to answer the posted question above, it took me approximately 13 hours for the funds to be transferred from CIMB Gsave account to my BPI Express Online account.
